America was hit hard in the first round after two goals behind Slovenia. Failure to escape the shadow of such great 16th round four years ago started to get attacked by Donovan and colleagues.
Fortunately, they got success in the second half and equalized so the way to big 16 began to open again. Donovan, who started the U.S. revival through his first goal at minute 47, followed by Michael Bradley scored in the 82nd minute.
"I think no team in this World Cup are able to do what we have done. And this is the true American spirit," said Donovan.
Americans actually almost won if only the referee Koman Coulibaly not annulled Maurice Edu scored in the final game. Donovan was so disappointed with the decision of the court.
"I do not know how they steal from our goals. I do not know why the referee to cancel it. He would not tell us the reasons of such decision," he continued.
America now has two points. In the last match Bradley's team will face Algeria on 23 May.
